Hey Everyone!!! Long time no see. For some reason, my blogging got lost in the pipes about a year ago haha. From April to July Sajal and I lived in Phoenix. Another blog post is to come on Phoenix for sure. After which, Sajal and I went back to Hawaii!!! We lived in Hawaii from July til Thanksgiving 2021. I am planning to go back and write blogs on each of the islands we visited and our experiences in Hawaii. Since Thanksgiving 2021, Sajal and I moved back to the DC Area. We were understandably tired and we missed our home, family, and friends. We have been living in Virginia since then. We still are traveling and making trips though. Most recently, Sajal and I went to Los Angeles! We went to Los Angeles for a week and then we hopped on a Carnival Cruise. I have loved Los Angeles. Everyone told us that San Diego was a better version of Los Angeles. But when Sajal and I went there, we just didn't like it. It's probably my least-liked city in fact. No shade for people who love it. It was just cold and kind of boring in my opinion, haha. Based on that information, I really had my doubts about L.A. But L.A. has been so much fun. It's been a lot of fun exploring and seeing everything. We first stayed in Hollywood at (you guessed it) The Hotel Hollywood. Sajal and I stayed in the same room that Marilyn Monore stayed in!!!! That was super exciting.
The hotel was just a block away from Hollywood Blvd. That's where all of the classic tourist sites are. Seeing the Hollywood walk of fame was so surreal to me. I had always imagined seeing these stars and then they were right in front of me so casually. I loved reading all of the names and recognizing all of the stars.
We also saw the Chinese Theater and got tickets to it as well. The Chineses Theater is where all of the famous Hollywood premieres happen. This is also where the stars will put in their handprints and shoe prints. I saw the handprints of the Harry Potter cast, Avenger's cast, twilight cast, and many other stars!
From Hollywood Blvd, we hopped on a hop on hop off bus. I highly recommend the Big Bus 2-day pass including the Celebrity Homes tour. The Big Bus took us everywhere and talked about all of the fun celebrity facts. There are two routes, one of which takes you all the way down to Santa Monica and the beach! We also could just hop off the bus and walk around if we wanted to. Sajal and I walked around Melrose Avenue and Beverly Hills/Rodeo Drive in west Hollywood. Supposedly both places are where celebrities often frequent, but Sajal and I did not see any. We really wanted to see a celebrity on this trip, but unfortunately, it just didn't work out. Sajal and I also did the Celebrity Homes tour for this same purpose. And because we love looking at pretty homes. We got to see the homes of Zac Effron and Lebron James and a bunch of other celebrities. That was very cool, but honestly, I also enjoyed the tour because it took us into the hills of L.A. and we got to see some killer views.
Another really fun thing we did was eat at this really expensive restaurant called Olivettas in West Hollywood. Again it's supposed to be a celebrity favorite, but we didn't see any there. The atmosphere, customer service, and vibes were just out of this world. Everything was candlelit and super pretty, there was a D.J. playing some soft bangers, and everyone was nice and accommodating. The A.C. was blasting like right on our table, so we told our waitress just hoping to be moved to another table, but they turned it down for us!!!! I'm sure others were feeling cold too but still, that was crazy 😱. I asked for some sweet wine and they sent a wine specialist (called a sommelier) over to us. I didn't even know that was a thing. I ended up ordering a class of $40 wine 😱😱, just for funsies. They also gave us 2 shots for free since it was our anniversary of when Sajal proposed. The alcohol was fantastic. I've never had alcohol that good; the wine and shots, everything were delicious. For appetizers, we ordered bread, shoe fries, and burrata. All of which were fantastic. The bread was salted, crunchy but also soft, and just all around mouth-watering. We got pesto pasta and mushroom ricotta stuffed pasta. The pesto pasta was alright, but the mushroom pasta was to die for. We spent way too much, but it's really nice to do a super nice dinner every now and again.
Sajal and I also did a Warner Brothers Studio Tour. This was super super cool and I highly recommend to this to anyone who likes movies. They took us all around and we saw where they filmed a bunch of shows and movies. We got pictures on the set of Friends and Big Bang Theory, two shows that I love. Warner Brothers also made Harry Potter and all of the DC Super Hero Movies. Sajal's favorite superhero is Batman and I am OBSESSED with Harry Potter so this was super great for us. We got to film Sajal on a Batman Bike and me on a Harry Potter broomstick with a wand! They showed us how studios really make a movie from writing to set creation to green screens and finally audio. We also saw some really cool Harry Potter sets: the potions room, the flying car, the sorting har, and the cupboard under the stairs. Sajal got to see all of the Batmobiles and DC superhero costumes. Sajal and I love movies so this experience was amazing for us. Sajal says that this tour was his favorite part of the trip.
Of course, how could I come to L.A. and not go to Disneyland. I had been to Disney World so many times, but I really wanted to go to Disneyland too. Marvel Avenger's campus was really cool for Sajal and I since we love Marvel movies and shows. We got pictures with Dr. Strange, saw Dr. Strange fight off Dormamu, saw Spider-Man do a bunch of cool tricks, and saw Blank Panther, Black Widow, and Ronan all fight off bad guys. The Guardians of the Galaxy Ride and the Spider-Man Web Adventure were super fun as well. I also really enjoyed Cars Land and the shows at Disneyland. Going to both Disneyland and Disney World is probably not for everyone, but for a Disney Fanatic like me, it was amazing.
All in all, L.A. is a super fun place. There are so many amazing sights. The food scene here is absolutely fantastic. The people in L.A. are so kind and sweet. L.A. is what everyone on the East Coast thinks of when they think of California.
